Traditional liposuction is excellent for handling large volume fat loss in an effort to streamline and reshape the torso. It involves manually flushing out the excess fat with a cannula and is most often performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation.
Sometimes a client does not achieve the outcome they desire with primary liposuction. This can be the result of subpar work on the part of the surgeon, or it can occur as a result of changes in the figure over time. Dr. Scarpidis has the expertise and vision to perform liposuction correctly the first time, but also the intricate knowledge and artistry to revise and improve another surgeon’s work.
The tumescent approach involves injecting an anesthetic-based solution into the target areas before suctioning begins. This helps to break up the fat into more manageably removable units, and also ensures that bruising is kept to a minimum. Because there is a numbing agent in the injected fluids, no general anesthesia is required, and patients can return home the same day.
One of the newest and most innovative liposuction techniques is ultrasonic lipo. It relies on sound wave power to gently emulsify the fat cells prior to suctioning, thus shortening treatment time and downtime as well. The sound energy does not disturb any surrounding healthy cells, tissue, nerves or muscles, so ultrasonic lipo is considered exceptionally safe.
Power assisted lipo (PAL)
Unlike traditional lipo which relies upon rigorous manual excision of the fat, power assisted liposuction uses a motorized cannula, making the treatment more gentle and more efficient. PAL can be more precise in its results, and may be employed to target the delicate regions of the neck, chin and face. Post-operative discomfort is minimized, and downtime in general is reduced.
An exciting breakthrough in cosmetic science, laser lipo penetrates the fat cells and liquefies them, while also regenerating the two natural-occurring body proteins – collagen and elastin – that are responsible for skin suppleness and youthfulness. The result after the procedure is that not only is the body sculpted and slimmed, but the skin boasts a gorgeous, smooth glow.
Sculpsure is a non-surgical, non-invasive body contouring method that relies entirely on potent laser energy to melt away the excess fat. Complication risks are therefore eliminated, and downtime is greatly reduced. In addition to these benefits, SculpSure triggers the regrowth of collagen and elastin, two fountain of youth-type proteins that tend to dwindle with advancing years.
Super wet lipo
The super wet technique uses less injected fluids than tumescent liposuction, but has the same benefits, including less bruising and reduced downtimes. Unlike the tumescent approach, however, super wet lipo does require general anesthesia, so patients will need to have a friend or family member accompany them home from the office.
